August Activity Calendar
NEWSLETTER July 2021
At this time your Council would like to thank all residents for their cooperation during this Council’s term of office. Municipal Elections will be held on September 28th, 2021. Nomination Day will be September 2nd, 2021.
We urge you to think about offering yourself as a candidate in this year’s election. For more information, please contact the town office.
A list of Nominees will be sent out before Election Day and we urge everyone to come out and vote.
From a town perspective we have had a lot of challenges during the past couple of years with COVID-19 and thank everyone for following the guidelines and keeping our community safe to this point. There is an end in sight and there are better days ahead. Next year, things should be back on track.
First of all, the Playground is not owned by the Town. It is the property and responsibility of the School.
However, the Playground failed inspection three or four years ago and the school did not have the means to do the necessary work to bring it up to code. The Town stepped up and offered to help financially and provide manpower to get the work done to bring it up to code. We have been working with the School Board for the past two or three years to accomplish this.
The town had a roadway and handicap parking lot installed. We have purchased the pea stone that is now required to use in the playground and we are currently waiting on help to get the equipment and pea stone installed to meet code. It may seem very simple but in fact there are a lot of codes and specifications that must be met that require outside help.
The Rink has been deteriorating for a number of years and the Town has decided it must now be replaced in its entirety. The volleyball and basketball courts have also deteriorated and need an overhaul. The town is working on replacing the rink and a new parking lot will also need to be installed. Again, while this may seem a simple fix, it is more complex and there are codes and specifications that must be met. The town has an Engineer working on this and more news will be coming shortly.
The Water and Sewer Tender has been awarded and the work should be starting shortly. This year, water and sewer will be installed to all residents from Tulk’s Apartment Building across from the Wharf up to the School. The residents from the Post Office down will be able to connect to the town sewer this year but the residents from the Post Office up to the School will not be able to connect to the Town Sewer but will have a dry line installed until the next phase as a Lift Station is required in the area of the Rec. Center for these houses to avail of the sewerline.
The Center is open daily and offers a Craft Shop and Daily BBQ. Please drop by and support your local vendors.
We hope everyone has a Safe and Enjoyable Summer.

Did you know?
- Indiscriminate dumping is an ongoing problem in our community
- The cost to clean up the indiscriminate is borne by the town – your tax dollars are going towards cleaning up somebody else’s mess
- That if the person doing the indiscriminate dumping can be determined, he/she can be forced to clean up the mess and can also be fined
Following are pictures taken around our community of indiscriminate dumping. In some areas, it is very difficult, maybe impossible to clean up the debris due to the location.

If you know who is responsible please do the right thing and report them. Let’s take pride in our community and work together to make it a better, cleaner place to live.
